As the festive season gets into full swing, it‘s the perfect time to enjoy the celebrations and take a few simple steps to help keep Christmas merry and stress free:
- Check Christmas tree lights are in good working order and unplug them when unattended
- Never leave candles burning unattended and keep them well away from flammable decorations
- Before you head out make sure doors and windows are locked and consider using timers for lights to give the appearance of occupancy
- Keep valuables out of sight and dispose of branded packaging discreetly
- If you‘re travelling over the holidays let a trusted neighbour know you‘ll be away
- Avoid sharing travel plans or check-ins on social media
- Keep an eye out for parcel deliveries to help prevent theft
- And finally… double-check that high value or newly purchased gifts are adequately covered within your policy limits (particularly if you are fortunate enough to receive jewellery!) If you‘re unsure, we‘re always happy to help.
